Carscoop reported, Thursday, April 19, 2012, Mazda is currently providing a choice of V6 engines pinned on the Mazda6 sedan and Mazda CX-9 crossover. But for the next generation of Mazda, V6 engine will not continue.
Mazda's senior vice president of the United States Robert Davis justify it. "We have no plans to develop a V6 engine under SkyActive machine," Davis said.
Davis continued that focus on making the Mazda car with large dimensions and lightweight, and offers 4-cylinder turbocharged engine.
When asked about the future of rotary engine, Davis said, Mazda continues to make the application of rotary technology development with the same abilities with SKYACTIV a more fuel efficient.
"Mazda will explore the idea of using the latest rotary engine with an electric drive," said Davis. Rotary engines have advantages over conventional machines. Despite having a small capacity engine, but produces great power.
About the next generation Mazda MX-5 or Miata, Davis said, the car is part of the program SKYACTIV. "The company will prepare a special edition from Mazda roadster segment," said Davis.
